Report and Pictures from the International Women’s Day Conference of the Women of Essence Foundation. Tuesday 8th March, 2016.
The 4th edition of the Women of Essence Foundation International Women’s Day conference was held on Tuesday March 8th, 2016 at the Events Centre, Hakeem Balogun St, CBD, Alausa Ikeja in Lagos State. The theme of the conference for this year was “DISCOVERY…Unearthing the Treasures Within”. The conference was well attended by over 200 women from all walks of life, including a former President of the National Council of Women’s Society (NCWS) – Mama Hilda Adefarasin who is also one of the matrons of the Women of Essence Foundation.
The conference started at 9:36am with the anchor, Mrs Kenny Omojola (Financial Secretary/Treasury of board of trustees of Women of Essence Foundation) inviting Deaconess Oluwajana to lead the opening prayer. The matrons and special guest were then duly recognised. Mrs Omojola gave the overview of how International Women’s Day celebration began over 100 years ago and then the Vice Chairperson of WOMEF, Mrs. Ronke Osikoya was invited to give her welcome address. She appreciated everyone seated and pointed out the importance of the event to WOMEF and its quest not to relent in promoting the economic, financial and social well being of women and the girl child in order to ensure that the future is bright, safe and rewarding…”
The first guest speaker Pastor (Mrs.) Adebola Atoyebi, the President, Chosen Vessel Empowerment Foundation was invited on stage to deliver her presentation on ‘DISCOVERY…Unearthing the treasure within’. She noted that treasures are things of value, of worth, of wealth or something wealthy. She pointed out the fact that unearthing in the physical means discovering the precious stones beneath earth surface. She advised that no matter what the experiences of life, circumstances, abuse (physical, verbal, talking down, etc) that has beaten you down, these have not diminished the treasures inside you. You need to let go of the past and unearth new chapter of your life so you can be the person God has called you to be.
The second speaker Pastor (Mrs) Ruth Essien, President Women After Revival Ministry took the stage to deliver her presentation on ‘Unearthing the treasures in marriage’. She said that for a woman to enjoy the treasures in marriage, she must be ready to labour and work hard at her marriage. She went on to give tips on how to uncover the treasure in marriage and advised that to unearth the treasures in marriage you have to understand you are first an individual.
Founder and Coordinator of WOMEF Mrs Omokorede Fasoro was the third speaker and spoke on ‘Unearthing Your Treasured Possessions’. She began quoting Mick Hukabee (US Presidential aspirant) “Inside every human being there are treasures to unlock”. She noted that every human has a unique combination of treasures deposited in them. She listed some of these treasured possessions as your abilities, experiences and untapped potentials. She gave tips on treasured possessions and how to unearth the treasures. She charged every woman to display their treasures and look for opportunities to serve others.
Mrs Ayodeji Megbope CEO of No Left Over Nig Ltd the fourth speaker took over the stage to deliver her presentation on ‘Unearthing treasures for business successes. She began her presentation by encouraging some of the participants who have had wasted opportunities and been biting their fingers to rise up and forget the past. “The past is gone, forget it, you cannot rewrite it. She pointed out using her personal story as a base, she challenged participants on how to unearth the treasures for business success. She spoke to women about the need to be passionate, consistent and focused if they desire to go into business. She concluded by advising every woman to work towards leaving a legacy for the next generation to enjoy.
The fifth speaker and last Pastor Bola Adefarasin of Hephzibah House of Prayer took over to deliver her presentation on ‘Unearthing treasures within through Prayers’. She started by stating that there is a treasure in every woman as it was in the case of Esther. It was not until she went to the place of prayer coupled with fasting that the queen in her emerged. She also noted the importance of prayers through the help of third man in the person of the Holy Spirit who reveals the hidden treasures to you.
In bringing the conference to an end, Mrs. Omokorede Fasoro unveiled the activities for the year 2016 and also solicited for support of those present. Afterwards Pastor Ayo Fasoro, a great supporter of Women of Essence Foundation to say the closing prayer. The conference ended at 2:46pm.
The conference was a soul lifting, motivating and impactful for everyone present.
